RECAP: Saturday, Feb. 2nd :: Classic Bean, Fairlawn Plaza
It was another great turnout at The Bean, with many folks showing up a couple of hours before we arrived, to make sure they had a place to sit.
We always have a great time with everyone at The Bean, and look forward to meeting and making new friends every time.
A Funny Story: We're near the end of "March Madness", which means that lots of folks are all geared up about College basketball. This year, KU didn't make it to the Final Four, but another Kansas team is "shocking" lots of folks with their ability to keep advancing in the bracket - Wichita State University!
The game was on the television in the front corner of the room, just to the side of the stage, and we could see lots of people rooting for WSU as the game was tied, and many who saw what happened to KU the week before, were holding on for dear life, hoping for another Kansas team win.
It was down to the final seconds of the game, and we were in between songs. You could feel the tension in the room, so I asked if we should wait and watch the outcome together. After a few seconds of waiting, we realized that a few seconds on the game clock, could be several minutes on TV, with the television and team timeouts they usually take at this time.
So, we decided to go ahead with another song: "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. I told everyone that we would play, and when the game ended (provided WSU wins) they could just go ahead and cheer whenever it occurred.
We were 3/4 of the way through the song, and in between choruses, the game ended, Wichita State won, and the room erupted in cheers and applause. At that moment, over the roar of the crowd on my microphone, I said to Melissa, "They really LIKE this song!" We all had a good laugh, and enjoyed the rest of the evening together!
WE RETURN TO THE CLASSIC BEAN, FRIDAY, MAY 10th, 8-11PM. Come early and get your table reserved--They fill up fast!

Spring seems to have taken the year off. A pretty good snow came blowing through our area, but didn't seem to stop a few die-hards from braving the elements. We estimated that it snowed an inch-per-hour from 7-9pm.
We had a good time with the ladies who were there celebrating a birthday, as well as our friends Kevin Raine and family, Tom & Pam Luthi and family, and of course, our kids and their friends Andrew M. and Drew B. and his dad.
We will be returning to Ice & Olives in April -- And maybe Spring will decide to show up, too!

Saturday, March 30th, AT A NEW TIME--8:00pm - 11:00pm.
EXTRA! EXTRA!
"We've been toying around with the idea of adding the piano into our sound for a while, now" says Terry. "Ever since I performed at the 'Howl at the Moon' dueling piano bar in Kansas City, I've been fascinated with re-arranging songs for just a solo instrument with the voice--It lends a different dynamic that you just don't get with a full band."
TEASER: What are some of the new songs/artists we can expect to hear?
"We're adding some Colbie Caillat--Melis is just going to rock these songs out! Also, some classics from groups like Foreigner, some Heart, Aerosmith, Pat Benatar, and quite possibly some more Billy Joel and Journey. The piano is going to help us add another angle for us to bring in more songs that create a different atmosphere that should be fun for all!"
